Implants are in general suitable for two categories of patients.
1) Patients with missing teeth who would like them replaced without the use of dentures.
2) Patients who would like to enhance the retention of their dentures by using implants. (Implant dentures)
They are not normally the method of choice for replacing an existing tooth. Crowning an existing tooth is more appropriate in the majority of cases.
