Package tour includes trip to the dentist

SCOTS are flocking to Hungary for treatment by a dentist dubbed Attila the Gum.

But they insist he's no barbarian and is taking the pain out of large dental bills.

Despite the 3000-mile round trip to his surgery in Budapest, patients are saving thousands on top-notch dental work.

Dr Attila Knott is attracting a stream of Scots to his surgery by offering 'teeth tours' in which patients combine dental treatment with sight-seeing around the Hungarian capital.

He said: 'Demand from Scotland is growing fast, but we have three dentists, six technicians, an oral surgeon and three dental hygienists, so there is no waiting list.'

Patients arriving in Budapest are directed by tooth-shaped signs to Dr Knott's surgery.

After treatment, patients are driven to a top hotel and taken on shopping and sightseeing tours before coming home.

Dr Knott has joined forces with British dentist turned 'tooth tours' travel agent Ian Domville.

Ian is currently arranging trips for around 25 patients every month to Budapest and is being inundated with inquiries.

His company, Kreativ Dental Tours, is finding business particularly brisk north of the Border.

Mr Domville added: 'We have all seen pictures of people queuing for hours to register with an NHS dentist because they cannot afford the expensive private fees.

'But we do not replace the NHS, we are simply offering an alternative for cosmetic and essential treatment.'

Dr Knott's patients are given guarantees that they will be recompensed for any work that goes wrong.
